Customer Spotlight: Mortenson Family Dental on “What Social Media has accomplished for our practice”

In our previous post, Mortenson Family Dental graciously shared the practice’s social media strategy and goals. As the second part of our three-part customer spotlight with Mortenson Family Dental, I asked the practice about some of the results they have experienced and what their engagement on Facebook has meant to the patients of the practice.

How have your patients responded to your Facebook Page and use of social media?

During our planning stage, we knew that using social media – and especially Facebook – meant that we were going to put ourselves out there. We made sure that our voice on Facebook was not going to try and sell anything; instead, we aimed to educate, inform, and entertain our patients in terms they would understand. In this way, anyone can understand what we are trying to say. This strategy was certainly successful for us – eventually we began thinking like a patient, making it much easier to connect with them online!

How has social media helped Mortenson Family Dental?

Now with 3,928 loyal fans on Facebook, our Facebook Page has nearly become a one-stop shop for our practices. When patients visit us to engage in our posts and suddenly remember they need to schedule an appointment, we provide them the opportunity to do so immediately, right on Facebook.

Most recently, patients have been visiting our Facebook Page to ask dental questions – we always try and bring in a doctor to have a “guest appearance” when we need to bring in some expertise. We also use our Facebook Page as an information resource to introduce both new technology and new office staff members by using video in a genuine, behind the scenes kind of way. By doing all of these things, we can engage our patients in conversation beyond dentistry and in a non-confrontational environment. Social media has taken away the fear of “embarrassment” as well as the immediate pressure of decisions for our patients.

By posting engaging status updates and being an information resource, Mortenson Family Dental has been able to successfully implement their social media strategy, and it has paid significant rewards.
